I am 21 years old, currently living in Longmont Colorado where I own my own business as a health restoration coach, with a goal to help others reach ultimate health from the inside out. My free time is often spent writing poetry, painting, or spending time with friends and family.
At a young age, I found myself sick and overweight, often falling asleep near the toilet, unable to move or else agitating my stomach pain and nausea. A new rash appeared almost daily and I accepted the painful battle between my muscles and my skin as normal, tightening one muscle at a time from my head to my toes, in hopes of easing the discomfort. Shooting pain would strike my heart like lightening and skip beats with every bolt. The thought of food made me sick, yet leaving my stomach an empty pit, made me even sicker. I began having anxiety, unable to leave the house without making myself sick over the possibility of dying, and falling asleep with my hand over my heart, paying close attention to the rhythm and praying that it wouldn’t stop.
After years of normalizing the excess of symptoms that surged through my body, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos, as well as Lyme Disease, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), food allergies, leaky gut syndrome, and hormonal imbalances. A dangerous combination that put my body into a place of exhaustion.
Up until the last few years, I was unaware that every substance your body is exposed to, has either a positive or negative effect on how it is able to function. The foods that you feed your body and the chemicals that you use are either helping you or hurting you. Just like putting the wrong type of gasoline in your car will hurt the engine, putting the wrong things into your body will also hurt your bodily engine.
After removing chemicals from my home and decreasing my intake of sugar and processed foods, I have been able to improve my health substantially.
In this blog, I hope to educate you on the things that are often left unspoken surrounding food, chemicals, and the body, as well encourage you to make changes to find a healthier you through tips, recipes, and healthy alternatives. My goal is not to help you lose weight or alter your appearance, but to help you discover how great the body was truly designed to feel, although losing a few pounds may come with a healthier body;)
What you weren’t taught, is not your fault.

Mikayla, I am currently in awe of not only your blog, but your story. I am so inspired and I wish I could just talk to you because so much of what you are writing about and going through is applicable to me and my life! I so appreciate your willingness to be authentic and real with complete strangers in order to possibly help someone like me. As far as your blog goes, I love the name, colors, and format. The only suggestion I would make is possibly incorporate more media and pictures to add a little more to your site. Overall, great job, and I can say I will personally be keeping up with it!

You are so sweet! I would love to talk to you if you needed help or just needed someone to vent to. I know what it’s like to feel alone and would hate for you to feel that way. I plan to add more photos and recipes. Thank you for your feedback!!

Hi Mikayla, I absolutely love your blog. Your story is super inspiring and I already know it will help so many young girls. I struggle with IBS and gastrointestinal problems and I constantly see TikTok’s of girls with the same issues. Obviously your case is slightly different, butt I will definitely keep an eye out for some tips that could benefit me and my flare-ups. I assume you have tried every single home remedy in the book, it could be fun to include what you have tried/ what did and didn’t work for you.

Hi Mikayla, great blog. I am so inspired by your story. I struggle with IBS and gastrointestinal problems and constantly see TikTok’s of girls with the same problems. It’s almost like absolutely nobody knows how to help girls with stomach problems. Obviously your case is a bit different, but I am excited to follow along and see if anything helps my flare-ups. As for TikTok, you could post a video advertising this blog for girls with stomach problems. I assume you have tried every home remedy in the book, it could be interesting to write what you have tried and whether or not it worked. Great job!!!
